The Green Dragon
Hobbiton Movie Set is pleased to announce The Green Dragon Inn is now open. All tours will now visit the inn and will be able to spend time inside as well as receiving one complimentary refreshment.
The Green Dragon featured in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy as the local meeting place for all the residents of Hobbiton. It was the perfect place to slake their thirst, enjoy a meal and gossip about the comings and goings of The Shire. The inn also makes an appearance in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
All the interior scenes for the films were shot in studios in Wellington, but now that same interior has been faithfully recreated at Hobbiton Movie Set. Our guests now walk to The Green Dragon as part of their tour and can step inside this amazing building.
The Inn is also available for private functions after hours, with a capacity of 100 people seated. In addition there is a specially designed Hobbiton Movie Set marquee seating 200 (just like that under the party tree for Bilbos birthday) behind the inn for groups to dine in both during the day by arrangement, or after hours. Please see our specially prepared menus for more information about our meals.
Served behind the bar are traditional ales, cider and non alcoholic ginger beer, all brewed exclusively for us.
