Private tours of Hobbiton™ Movie Set can be organised for individuals or groups for a more intimate experience.

Private group tours of the Hobbiton™ Movie Set can be organised for individuals or groups. Experience the real Middle-earth™ with a private tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set, the bucolic setting for The Shire™ that featured in the Peter Jackson directed films, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies.

Your tour starts with a drive through the picturesque 1,250 acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges. Your personal guide will escort you through the twelve acre site recounting fascinating details of how the Hobbiton Movie set was created.

The Hobbit Holes™, Green Dragon™ Inn, Mill and other structures created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films can be viewed and you will see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle-earth.

  • How long is a Private Tour?

    A Private Tour is two and a half hours in duration.

  • Will we be the only group on the Movie Set?

    There will be other tours on the Movie Set at the same time as your Private Tour, however we have tailored our Private Tours so that other tours will not interfere with your experience. You can find more information on our Private Events and Functions here.

  • Is there anything we can add to our Private Tour?

    We can offer a buffet lunch as a part of your experience. Adding lunch to your experience will be an additional cost per person. Please let the team know when enquiring if you would like more information on this option.

    We unfortunately cannot offer any breakfast or dinner experiences with your Private Tour.
