What is the difference between a photoshoot tour and an elopement?
Both of these options are priced the same. The only difference being that when booking the elopement option, we allow for a very short elopement ceremony before the fully guided photoshoot tour begins. Both options allow for a maximum of 11 guests, including the wedding couple and photographer. The full wedding party will take part in the photoshoot tour together.
What is the difference between an elopement ceremony & a wedding ceremony?
An elopement ceremony is for smaller, more intimate gatherings – Maximum 11 guests, including the wedding couple and photographer. The elopement fee includes a small setup of bench seating, a floral wedding arch, a large wine barrel for signing the marriage license, and audio connectivity with wireless microphone. The elopement fee also includes the fully guided photoshoot tour for the full wedding party.
Our wedding ceremony option is for larger gatherings of 11+ and includes a fully guided photoshoot tour for the wedding couple only. All guests attending the wedding ceremony are charged at the standard Movie Swet tour admission rate. Also included in the wedding ceremony hire fee is guest bench seating, a floral wedding arch, a large wine barrel for signing the marriage license and audio connectivity with a wireless microphone. If post-ceremony drinks and canapes are planned, we will also provide a themed pop-up bar.
Will Hobbiton Movie Set provide a wedding celebrant & wedding photographer?
Hobbiton Movie Set does not provide a wedding celebrant or wedding photographer; this is the wedding couple’s responsibility to organise. Please reach out to our events team for some local recommended providers.
What time of day will our ceremony begin?
For an elopement ceremony, the ceremony start time will depend on what tour slots we have available on your preferred date. For a full wedding ceremony, these are typically held later in the afternoon as our daily public tours come to a close. The ceremony start time will depend on the time of year you have booked. Over the summer months when we have New Zealand daylight savings, the ceremony will begin later in the afternoon. During the winter months when daylight savings have ended, the ceremony will begin earlier in the afternoon.
How far in advance can we book our wedding date?
We are currently accepting wedding bookings up to 2 years in advance. Booking date will depend on venue availability.
Is a deposit required to place a wedding booking?
To secure a booking date we require a $1,000.00 NZD non-refundable deposit payment. The remaining outstanding balance for the total event cost will be invoiced 30 days prior to the event date. Any outstanding costs will be invoiced shortly after the event date. For full payment terms, please refer to our terms and conditions in our wedding brochure.
Can I amend my booking date after paying a deposit?
If your plans change and the date you have booked is no longer suitable, we are happy to move your booking and deposit payment to an alternative date. The new date will depend on venue availability.
What are the catering options for a wedding reception?
All of our wedding reception menus are served buffet style and are in a “build your own menu” format. Please reach out to our events team for catering menu options.
What is the wet weather plan for a wedding ceremony and Movie Set tour?
All of our ceremony locations are outdoors. The wedding ceremony and guided tours will go ahead, rain or shine. We provide umbrellas for guests to use at the entrance to the Movie Set.
Is a tour of the Movie Set compulsory when booking a wedding?
All Hobbiton Movie Set venues are only available in conjunction with a Hobbiton Movie Set tour. All guests attending the wedding must take part in a fully guided tour of the Movie Set and will be charged at the standard Movie Set tour admission rate.
