Private Functions-
How far in advance can we book our event?
We are currently accepting bookings up to 2 years in advance. Booking date will depend on venue availability.

Is a deposit required to secure an event booking?
To secure a booking date we require a $1,000.00 NZD non-refundable deposit payment. The remaining outstanding balance for the total event cost will be invoiced 30 days prior to the event date. Any outstanding costs will be invoiced shortly after the event date. For full payment terms, please refer to the T&Cs on page 16 of our function brochure.

Can I amend my booking date after paying a deposit?
If the date you have booked is no longer suitable, we are happy to move your booking and deposit payment to an alternative date. The new date will depend on venue availability.

What contributes towards the minimum spend for private events?
The minimum spend for private evening hire of our venues is made up from the cost of the Movie Set tours for all guests, catering and beverages. As long as all of these combined meets the minimum spend, there is no venue hire fee. If the minimum spend is not met from the cost of the Movie Set tours, catering and beverages, we will add a venue hire fee to bring the total spend up to meet the minimum.

Is a tour of the Movie Set compulsory when booking a private event?
All Hobbiton Movie Set venues are only available in conjunction with a Hobbiton Movie Set tour. All guests attending the event must take part in a fully guided tour of the Movie Set and will be charged at the standard Movie Set tour admission rate.

Can I move the guided tour to a separate date from our event?
The fully guided Movie Set tour must take place on the date and time of the event booking.

What time will our event begin?
All Hobbiton events begin with a fully guided tour of the Movie Set. The tour departure times will depend on the time of year that you have booked your event. Over the summer months when we have NZ daylight savings, the guided tours will begin later in the afternoon. During the winter months when daylight savings have ended, the guided tours will begin earlier in the afternoon.

What time will our event end?
All private events must come to a close no later than 12:00am midnight.

Does Hobbiton Movie Set have any on-site accommodation?
Hobbiton Movie Set does not have any on-site accommodation. Please reach out to our events team for a list of local accommodation providers.

What is the wet weather plan for the guided Movie Set tour?
The fully guided tour of the Movie Set will go ahead, rain or shine. We provide umbrellas at the entrance to the Movie Set for guests to use if needed.

How does catering work for a private event?
All of our private event menus are served buffet style and are in a “build your own menu” format. Please reach out to our events team for catering menu options.

How does the tour and catering pricing work for children?
We have different tour and menu pricing for children depending on their age. Please reach out to our events team for more information.

Will special dietary requirements and food allergies be catered for?
Hobbiton Movie Set is happy to cater for all guest dietary requirements and food allergies. All guest dietary requirements must be confirmed with us no later than 1 week prior to the event date.

How will beverages work for a private event?
We have a few options in regard to beverages. We have hourly beverages packages available, please reach out to our events team for the beverage menu and package pricing. We also have the option of running a bar tab based on consumption for beverages. Alternatively, we can run a cash/card bar for beverages.

Can I book entertainment for my event?
You are welcome to book entertainment for your event. If you require local recommendations for live bands and DJs, please reach out to our events team.

Is an evening lantern tour of the Movie Set included in my event?
If you have booked a private evening banquet tour experience, an evening lantern tour of the Movie Set is included in the per person cost. If you have not booked a private evening banquet tour experience, an evening lantern tour of the Movie Set can be added to your booking at an additional cost. Please reach out to our events team for pricing.

Are there any provisions made for guests who require mobility assistance?
For guests who require mobility assistance, we have the option of a Mobility Restriction Golf Cart. The golf cart is driven by a Hobbiton staff member. Please note, our Mobility Restriction Golf Carts can seat two passengers only, with a combined maximum weight of 200kgs. In order to use one of our golf carts, guests must be able to transfer independently on to the golf cart and sit un-supported. Use of the golf cart will depend on availability and must be pre-booked. There is no additional charge to use a golf cart.

Will Hobbiton Movie Set provide a wedding celebrant & wedding photographer?
Hobbiton Movie Set does not provide a wedding celebrant or wedding photographer; this is the wedding couple’s responsibility to organise. Please reach out to our events team for some local recommended providers.

What is the difference between a photoshoot tour and an elopement?
Both of these options are priced the same. The only difference being that when booking the elopement option, we allow for a very short elopement ceremony before the fully guided photoshoot tour begins. Both options allow for a maximum of 11 guests, including the wedding couple and photographer. The full wedding party will take part in the photoshoot tour together.

What is the difference between an elopement ceremony & a wedding ceremony?
An elopement ceremony is for smaller, more intimate gatherings – Maximum 11 guests, including the wedding couple and photographer. The elopement fee includes a small setup of bench seating, a floral wedding arch, a large wine barrel for signing the marriage license, and audio connectivity with wireless microphone. The elopement fee also includes the fully guided photoshoot tour for the full wedding party.
Our wedding ceremony option is for larger gatherings of 11+ and includes a fully guided photoshoot tour for the wedding couple only. All guests attending the wedding ceremony are charged at the standard Movie Swet tour admission rate. Also included in the wedding ceremony hire fee is guest bench seating, a floral wedding arch, a large wine barrel for signing the marriage license and audio connectivity with a wireless microphone. If post-ceremony drinks and canapes are planned, we will also provide a themed pop-up bar.

What time of day will our ceremony begin?
For an elopement ceremony, the ceremony start time will depend on what tour slots we have available on your preferred date. For a full wedding ceremony, these are typically held later in the afternoon as our daily public tours come to a close. The ceremony start time will depend on the time of year you have booked. Over the summer months when we have New Zealand daylight savings, the ceremony will begin later in the afternoon. During the winter months when daylight savings have ended, the ceremony will begin earlier in the afternoon.
