At Hobbiton Movie Set, we recognise the vital role our local community plays in enhancing the experience of visitors. Guided by the Tiaki Promise and Tourism Industry Aotearoa’s Sustainability Pledge, we are committed to caring for both people and place, with a long-term focus on strengthening community wellbeing and creating meaningful impact.
Our community engagement efforts centre around five key areas: Education, The Arts, Charities, Sporting Groups, and the Environment. Through sponsorships, volunteering, partnerships, and local collaboration, we support a range of initiatives across the local, regional, and national levels.
Some of the ways we give back include:
- Supplying products, vouchers, and financial support to local groups and events,
- Partnering with community organisations and suppliers,
- Volunteering time and resources to local projects, and
- Actively managing our impact and responding to community feedback.
Community engagement is further encouraged through our annual Locals’ Days tours and Matamata College Scholarship. We also offer a variety of educational workshops and activities, facilitating the sharing of knowledge with local schools, groups, and businesses.
